Thermo King tool spotlight: Alarm Codes
There are many tools you can call upon to get customers excited. Capabilities that help them achieve their ambition for a smarter, more efficient operation.
But what of Alarm Codes?
- Where and how should these enter into customer conversations?
- Should you even be promoting a tool that speaks of ‘alarm’?
- What specific benefits do they help bring to life?
Dependable refrigeration
The big picture story for Alarm Codes is that they help ensure smooth operations. With each one (when triggered) comes the ability to check instantly what’s happening with individual units, to know the specific causes of any problems, and therefore the solution.
Ultimately it comes down to safeguarding a customer’s vehicle refrigeration equipment, and by extension their temperature sensitive cargoes. To know for certain that any breakdown isn’t going to cause them a lengthy period of downtime, or the need for in-depth analysis to try and identify problem and solution.
Fleet Manager benefits
The value offered to customers by Alarm Codes is therefore both practical and meaningful:
- Hands-on visibility: with details on what’s happening where and when to individual units across an extended fleet
- Day-to-day reassurance: knowing that while unexpected problems may occur, they’ll have the knowledge needed to respond effectively
- Business relevance: with the ability to focus on maximizing vehicle uptime and the speed to problem resolution
- Technical insight: where alarm codes assist dealers in delivering a fast and precise fix to any emerging issue
Practical application
Alarm Codes are always a good way to show the level of detail available from Thermo King units. The skill comes in detailing the actual business value delivered by individual alarms.
Take for example the following alarm codes:
- 00 – the double zero that gives customers the confidence that everything is OK with the equipment, and that they can proceed with confidence
- 10 – which warns of a ‘high pressure discharge’ that requires immediate action, thereby protecting the load (and offering a good opportunity for preventative maintenance)
- 23 – a ‘cooling cycle fault (zone)’ that offers customers the opportunity to arrange a fix, or to find another way to ensure delivery
- 61 – ‘low battery voltage’, a problem that has an obvious impact on performance (and indirectly fleet efficiency)
- 117 – not a problem but a solution! A code that shows the unit has switched from diesel to electric, a vital capability that will only grow in importance for inner-city deliveries
Put Alarm Codes to work
850+ alarms, each containing valuable insights into fleet performance – and each one a potential conversation starter with customers!
